Rosemary Alexander – Executive Director
Rosemary Alexander is Executive Director of the JobNet Career Center her experience includes public and private sector work in management, organizational effectiveness and staff development. She has a background in key Human Services roles in Health Care, Non-Profit, Private Sector and Government. She has been a Researcher, Consultant, Trainer and Program Manager.
In the fall of 1986, Ms. Alexander joined the Division of Career Services (formerly the Division of Employment and Training) as a program manager and went on to direct JobNet in 1998. Ms. Alexander earned a M. S. in Management from Lesley University and B.S. degree in Human Services from University of Massachusetts
Kent Wampler – Learning Organization Specialist
With over 30 year’s experience, Kent is well-versed in human resources management, career planning, training and organization development. He has a thorough understanding of learning systems, career transitions, and the world of work.
He served in Management and Senior Consultant roles with two nation-wide career consulting firms. He held internal Training and Development positions with American Airlines, Signetics, and Ampex Corporations He also maintained a consulting practice working in a wide spectrum: technology; transportation; government; manufacturing; utilities and services.
He completed the Master of Science in Organization Development program at Pepperdine University, and a B.A. from California State University San Francisco.
Vincent Yee – Career Associate
Vincent’s ability to speak four languages has contributed greatly to his success. He is fluent in English, Vietnamese, Cantonese and Mandarin.
He is part of the group at JobNet that administers Workforce Training Funds. Along with his program administrative skills, he also offers experience and advice on job search and training.
Vincent attended the University of Saigon and Northeastern Institute of Industrial Technology. He earned a certificate in Electronic Technology and a certificate as a Medical Interpreter.
Sharon Tulchinsky – Disability and Special Services Coordinator
Sharon is a Career Counselor who specializes in employment solutions for individuals with disabilities and in assisting the long term unemployed. Her experience includes working in both public sector and private industry.
Sharon joined JobNet Career Center in 2000 to assist persons with psychiatric disabilities secure employment. At JobNet, Sharon has worked with a range of individuals including long term unemployed, career changers, food stamp recipients, and individuals with a wide variety of disabilities.
She has an MS in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling and is a licensed Massachusetts Rehabilitation Counselor. She also holds several national certifications: Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist (CVE), and a Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS).
Phyllis Cohen – Career Associate
Phyllis brings to her career counseling work at JobNet, a background in career services, teaching, human resources, training, management and consultation. She has worked specifically in workforce training; in coaching young and older adults, including college students, welfare recipients and immigrants; and in non-profit administration.
Prior to coming to JobNet, she worked as a Career Counselor at The Women’s Educational and Industrial Union and at The Jewish Vocational Services Center for Careers. She is highly skilled in assessment, the development and facilitation of workshops, case management, and career coaching.
Phyllis earned a Master’s degree from Harvard University and a B.S. degree from Wheelock College.
Alfred H. Neal, Jr. – Career Counselor
Alfred Neal counsels customers about employment issues and particularly enjoys his role as a career coach working with career changers seeking that elusive “job fit. As a Certified Professional Resume Writer, he conducts seminars on how to write resumes and cover letters.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Neal was a career Foreign Service Officer and worked as a diplomat in U. S. embassies in Africa, Asia, South America, and Central America. He speaks Spanish, French, and some Amharic.
He has a B. A. from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and .a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Gabon, West Africa. Mr. Neal is also an amateur photographer.
Mac Cole – Resource Room Coordinator
Mr. Cole has forty plus years of employment experience in the public and private sectors. He has worked in mental hospitals, settlement houses, colleges, department stores and some state and local public agencies. The latter include the Boston Housing Authority, and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Community Development as well as the MA. Department of Employment and Training (DET). He also was the first director of the Cambridge (MA) After School Program and the Fall River (MA) Home Care for the Elderly Program.
He has a B.A. from Springfield College and an MSW from Boston University.
Daphnie Armand – Program Services Specialist
Daphnie attended the University of Massachusetts Boston where she obtained her Bachelors Degree in Business, concentration, Marketing and a minor in Africana Studies. At JobNet she facilitates workshops and projects for special customer groups
As a former U-Mass student coordinator she assisted low-income students and their families. As a coordinator for the ARMS (Advocacy Resources for Modern Survival) Center, she was instrumental in helping the ARMS center became a recognized and sought out family support resource. Daphnie has a demonstrated passion for helping people and through patience, the ability to listen, and a sincere attitude towards the “human condition” Daphnie has been very successful in motivating others to achieve personal and professional goals.
Tony Lui – Career Associate
Tony Lui brings over ten years of teaching and vocational counseling experience to clients of JobNet. As a career associate with JobNet since 1997, he serves clients with career counseling, career goal setting and conducts various job search workshops.
Being a WIA counselor, he delivers services to qualified customers and refers them to variety of training programs using all the available funding sources. With his expertise in employment services and bilingual ability, JobNet is well known for its bilingual employment services in Boston. He also collaborates closely with community agencies for appropriate referrals and services.
He earned a B.S. degree from University of Windsor, Canada.
Gloria Michelson – Coordinator, WIA/Special Programs
Gloria has been an integral part of JobNet’s vibrant staff since its inception in 1997. Presently, she manages all aspects of services delivered to customers seeking training funds from the Workforce Investment Act and represents JobNet in the continuing development of policies, procedures and quality standards by participation on various work groups implementing the Workforce Investment Act. She brings extensive experience in the career management field, counseling individuals from diverse backgrounds and developing, facilitating job search workshops.
Gloria earned an M.Ed in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College and a B.S. Degree in Adult Human Development from Lesley University, Cambridge Massachusetts.
Ed Crognalo – Business Service Representative
In 2002 Ed joined JobNet as a Business Service Representative. He provides services to Boston based businesses and organizations. He formed a staff team of four Business Service Representatives which has expanded the JobNet capacity to post and advertise jobs, sponsor job fairs and run recruiting events. He is a very important part of JobNet’s capacity to match people with jobs. His background has included sales, business management and health services. He is a member of the Roxbury Community College Education and Curriculum Advisory Board.
Away from work, Ed enjoys spending his time with family and friends. His interests are music, Boston Sport Teams, and “Do it yourself projects”. A native of Walpole, Massachusetts, Ed has a BA degree from UMass Boston
Toni Marroquin – Rapid Response Specialist
Toni is a member of the Rapid Response Team with the Division of Career Services at JobNet. As a Rapid Response team member she goes to companies facing layoffs to assist their dislocated employees. Previously she worked in the Health Care Industry and in Human Services. She bridged this background to work as a Career Counselor at the Work Place One-Stop Career Center before joining JobNet Rapid Response.
In her spare time, Antonia is a Parent Mentor for the United Home for Children and among her many hobbies she has taken flight lessons and flown small aircraft.
Ms Marroquin is a graduate of Bay State College and has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Jody Lo-Vierra – Unemployment Insurance Representative
Jody serves a critical need in her capacity as an Unemployment Services Representative.
She works with all claimants, but also provides Chinese translation for those with no or limited English.
She migrated from Hong Kong in 2003 with a background in customer service. In 2007/2008 she completed Accounting, Computer and English training at Asian American Civic Association, then went to work at Tufts Medical Center, Boston. She worked as a Patient Services Coordinator at Tufts before applying for her position with the State and joining the JobNet Unemployment Services group.
Sandy Wang – Unemployment Insurance Representative
Sandy is an Unemployment Insurance Representative with tri-lingual expertise in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. Sandy employs her language skills to serve the special needs of many JobNet customers.
Sandy is a native of Henan, China. In 1992, she worked to expand her employer’s presence in America. Later, Sandy served as Patient Service Coordinator for Tufts Medical Center where physicians relied upon her to translate complex medical information for Chinese patients.
Sandy is a 1991 graduate of Henan College (China), and a 2007 graduate of the Medical Administrative Assistant Program at Everest College.
Michael Falasca – Disabled Veterans Representative
Michaelis an employment specialist working with Veterans with disabilities. This also includes working with all Veterans seeking re-employment services, Veterans business services & Veterans’ community outreach.
His background includes status as a Post-Vietnam / Gulf Era Disabled Service Veteran. Service Tours includePanama, The Gulf andSomalia. His prior work experience includes, United States Federal Air Marshal, Security Director, State and Local Law Enforcement Officers Assignments and Fraud Services Investigator.
He holds a Masters of Science degree in Business Administration & Criminal Justice fromSalemStateUniversity.
Johnny Kevin Pham – Unemployment Insurance Representative
Johnny Kevin has over fifteen years of experience in serving customers with unemployment insurance claims. He has special expertise in working with customers using his bi-lingual capabilities in English and Vietnamese.Before immigrating to the U.S. he worked in Indonesia and the Philippines with refugees, orphans, and in community development. He has received numerous awards for these services.
He earned a B.S. Degree in International Management from University of Massachusetts. He periodically travels back to Vietnam where he continues to work with village people and youth. He has received recognition for “Honorable Recognition of Humanity” from the local Vietnamese government and received an award called “Great Heart Overseas Asian-American” by villagers he assisted.
Harold Surgecoff – Program Information Specialist
Harold performs front desk functions at JobNet along with being a workshop presenter and member of a number of work quality teams. He came to JobNet through an Internship while completing his certifications in Computer and Office Skills.
His prior experience included work at Filene’s as a Lead Operator for Shipping/Receiving and Logistics and he also worked at Citicorp as a Computer Librarian.
He holds an A.S. Science from Bunker Hill College and certifications in Inventory Management and in Broadcasting and Communications. Harold is a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Army National Guard.
Beverly Mills – Resource Librarian
Beverly wears many hats, in addition to overseeing customer use of JobNet’s Resource Room, she is a workshop leader/designer, career coach and very active member of the Career Center professional team.
She holds a Master of Arts in Library Science from Simmons College and a B.A. degree from U.Mass, Boston .
She is very active in alumni events and in performing community service. In her career with the Commonwealth she also had worked in Contracts and Procurement, Employment Network and in the Trade Adjustment Program.
Brian Mooney – Veteran’s Services Coordinator
Brian provides Veterans’ services under the title of “Veteran’s Services Coordinator at the VA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment”. In this role he provides counseling and intensive services to U. S. military veterans.
He is a Vietnam Era Veteran and previously had extensive experience in teaching, education, and as a community organization administrator.
He has a Doctoral Degree in Education from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, a M.P.A. from Harvard University and a B.A majoring in Spanish from University of Minnesota.
